Safer Internet Forum 2006

21 June 2006
Luxembourg

The topics will be "Children’s use of new media” and “Illegal content: Blocking access to child sexual abuse images”.

A plenary session of the Safer Internet Forum, open to all interested, will take place in Luxembourg on Wednesday 21 June 2006.

The meeting will focus on two topics: "Children’s use of new media” and “Illegal content: Blocking access to child sexual abuse images”.

The half-day devoted to Children’s use of new media will analyse the results of the Eurobarometer survey and the Mediappro project. Discussion will focus on awareness raising tools and ideas on how to exploit research results for practical awareness raising work.

During the other half-day, the problematic of notice and take–down of illegal content blockling access to child sexual abuse images and server-level filtering of illegal content will be addressed.

The purpose of the Safer Internet Forum 2006 is to contribute to improve the common understanding of these issues at European level. As was the case in 2005, participants will include representatives of industry, law enforcement authorities, child welfare organisations and policy makers.

Further information on this event, including the agenda and an online registration form, will be available on the Safer Internet plus website in the coming weeks.
