Netty's new world

Netty’s World, NetAlert’s interactive early learning internet safety educational program for children and their parents, was relaunched in February 2006.

The program is designed to foster an appreciation and understanding of internet safety concepts at a young age.  It does this through an interactive website for children, information for parents and through a special internet safety club.

‘Space’ has been used as the central theme, and in the website children have the opportunity to navigate around via the cockpit of Netty’s spaceship.

The website is divided up into three main areas for children:

1) ‘Netty’s Net Adventure’ lets children explore 5 different adventures and learn about internet safety.  Through the adventures, 5 forget-me-nots are revealed (be nice, get help, think again, stay safe and secure and protect what’s private)

2) ‘Fun and Games’ lets children enjoy themselves with many entertaining and interactive activities.  There are games for both younger and older children as well as things such as screensavers and wallpapers for use on the home computer.  All the activities in this section reinforce key internet safety messages.

3) ‘Join the Club’ gives children information about the internet safety club available for them to join.  By becoming a member they receive free activities in the mail and stay reminded about internet safety.

Parents are encouraged to use the entire program as a launching pad for their internet safety education with their young children.  The program establishes essential safety concepts which can then be built upon as children become further involved with the internet.
