Internet Sans Crainte

Internet Sans Crainte is the national awareness programme for young people faced with the challenges brought by the internet. It is the French representative within the European Insafe project (Safer Internet Plus). This project, supported by the European Commission from 2005-2007 was renewed on 1st June 2008.

The  project is supported by the Delegation aux Usages de l’Internet, as transmitter of the French Ministry for Higher Education and Research. It is coordinated by Tralalere, which runs the Awareness node, while E-Enfance is in charge of Internet Sans Crainte’s Helpline. Its objective is to promote more critical education with respects to the internet with the aim of encouraging more responsible and safer use of this medium on all platforms, fixed or mobile, by young people. The programme is addressed to both families and the educational community.

Actions undertaken by Internet sans Crainte find their focus on the site www.internetsanscrainte.fr, the Vinz and Lou cartoons and interactive activities on the internet.

Started in November 2006, the official programme website features a full range of information and tools aimed at children, their parents and teachers.

Vinz and Lou on the Internet
The Vinz and Lou on the Internet programme, created by Tralalere with support from the ministries for Education and Higher Education and Research and the European Commission is a series of 15 cartoons complimented by interactive activities and teachers' notes. Addressing young people directly who can watch them on the site, these animations are given as the starting point for workshops for youth workers and educators and in B2i (IT and Internet Certificate) classes.  Vinz and Lou on the Internet is braodcast by M6 and has been adapted  for print as a strip (M6 Editions).

Telephone helpline
A telephone helpline for children and parents will go live at the end of 2008. Created by e-Enfance it will answer the real needs for dialogue and information that were diagnosed in France. Implemented  by  childhood and Internet experts and psychologists it will provide answers to the questions that young people and adults have with respects to safety on  the internet both fixed and mobile, stressing prevention and practical advice.

Communication tools.
Internet Sans Crainte provides the educational community with numerous resources to help with awareness raising activities with young people and families: post-cards, posters, cd-roms, brochures, strip cartoons... The programme with its partners is the publisher of  documentation and designs awareness-raising online games.
