The non profit-making organisation ASIRA, “Information Security Association of the Argentine Republic”, is an exclusive environment for the study and research of information and communication system security. ASIRA is a space for knowledge development through freedom of thought and exchange of ideas.

The impetus for founding ASIRA is made evident through the set of values and principles governing its course of action:

• Right to free knowledge
  

  We believe that access to knowledge should be free as it belongs to humanity as a whole. Knowledge must be entirely available to the international community for the development of technologies that support progress with a view to achieving improvements for the benefit of society.

• Right to freedom of thought
  

  We believe in the free expression of thoughts, ideas and opinions without censorship of any kind: individuals have to assume full responsibility for what they express.

• Right to free research
  

  We believe that people who develop knowledge beyond sectoral interests can rapidly and effectively contribute to progress by means of their findings. When research operates independently of the market it can impartially focus on topics and technological innovations in the scope of giving community free access to the outcomes.

In brief, we actively vindicate the exercise of curiosity to generate “knowledge”. We promote the right to delve into existing knowledge, to untangle its dark zones, perfect existing paths and constantly create new boundaries for research and development. Only with comprehensive, honest and uncompromised research can this be made possible.
