Welcome to the Insafe Newsletter!

The topic focus for this month's Insafe newsletter is the mobile phone, a key issue because today most people cannot imagine living without a mobile phone. Young people in the age group 10 to 20 are the first generation to feel that mobile phones are an integral part of their lives and not just something "nice to have".

Since mobile phone technology is a highly influential contemporary phenomenon it is essential to carefully study different potential impacts of mobile phone use on human behaviour.

That is the reason why a special research website "Mobile Society" focusing on social aspects of mobile phones, was launched by the RIS group within the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

RIS (Research on Internet in Slovenia) is the leading source on information society issues in Slovenia. It should be stressed that the Slovenian Awareness Node SAFE-SI is also run by RIS group.

The mission of the “Mobile Society” website is to include all publicly available information on studies about the interaction between mobile phones and contemporary society. A number of nt databases can be accessed through this website that concern the impact of mobile phone usage on human health and life-style in general, covering topics such as: exposure, risk, radiation, and cancer as well as harmful content.
