Toon Festival under the Eiffel Tower!
25 June 2008, Paris |
From 2 to 25 June, “la Cartoonerie” (creation and exchange site for kids’ toons) and the CIDJ (information and documentation centre for youth) were featuring the first festival of animations created by and for young people. For this festival, young internet users were invited to create their own cartoon on the Cartoonerie web site either as an individual entry or as a group from one of the workshops organised in the Cyb access points, which are supported by the French ministry for youth and sport. There were three categories for the entries: humour, environment and workshop films.
On the 25 June the climax of this festival took place at the CIDJ (Centre d’Information et Documentation Jeunesse) in Paris, from 10.00 to 17.00.
On the programme were cartoons, sessions with cartoonists, guided visits of Cinéacqua and the Eiffel Tower, training sessions on using the web. The final awards ceremony took place from 16.00 to 17.00.
French Insafe node Internet Sans Crainte were in attendance at this festival which is promoting an intelligent, creative web, its responsible use and the protection of the youngest members of society.
There were about 2000 participants: young people, parents and educators. Internet Sans Crainte took part in the treasure hunt which young people followed. At the stand they were asked questions about Vinz and Lou. There were many marks of interest and questions from them and educators, documentalists and teachers who dropped by.
