EASY best practice: a positive and challenging experience with ICT industries.

On the occasion of SMAU, the most important fair in Italy targeting ICT industries, Save the Children Italy and CREMIT (Research Centre of Catholic University of Milan) organised the seminar Could Corporate Social Responsibility and children’s rights bring added value to a company?
The seminar was attended by high-level representatives from Italian ICT industries: Italian most popular Social Networks Providers, Italian Mobile Operators, Microsoft and CRS Associations. Its aim was to stimulate a debate and a new perspective among ICT Italian industries with regard to the relationship between young people and New Media in terms of safer internet use. The challenge was and still remains the consideration of this relationship not only as a duty to be dealt with but also as an opportunity for companies to increase their competitiveness.

Italy is still in its “early days” to have this kind of vision. Even if it is most of all a cultural issue it is also an important starting point, firstly because of the challenging context we have chosen, which tends to focus only on innovation and new frontiers for new technologies; secondly because they agreed to be actively involved in a working group in order to explore in depth the issues raised during the seminar.
