In February 2004, Nobody’s Children Foundation (Fundacja Dzieci Niczyje) launched "Child on the Web", a nationwide social campaign addressing Internet safety and the problem of Internet-based paedophilia.
One year on, Nobody’s Children Foundation is working together with partners NASK (a research and development organisation) and the Polska.pl education portal to coordinate Internet safety awareness-raising activities in Poland.
The second phase of "Child on the Web" sees the launch of SIACIAKI, an innovative project focusing on educating children and teenagers to use the Internet safely.
In addition to a traditional website, SIACIAKI offers young Internet users the possibility to download a cartoon character on to their desktop. Website administrators communicate with the children through the character and offer tips and tasks related to safe use of the Internet.
The Polish partners in Internet safety awareness reveal more about their planned activities at a press conference in Warsaw on Safer Internet Day. Following 8 February, 16 provincial cities in Poland will host local conferences and accompanying events regarding Internet safety.
Nobody’s Children Foundation is a non-profit non-governmental organisation that provides short and long term assistance to abused children and their parents and guardians. Widely known in Poland for its educational and preventative activities in this field, it now also addresses the sexual abuse of children via the Internet.
