Greek node launches TV campaign

In September 2007, the Greek Node launched a TV awareness campaign with the broadcasting of several television spots. The spots are broadcasted through the network of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ET-1, NET, and the satellite channel ΕΡΤ World).

Until now six spots have been created and broadcasted, while the Greek partners of the awareness node are currently implementing further 8 spots for the year 2008.

TV spot: “The world is flat”
A 3D graphic spot with the campaign’s mascot @lpha, which promotes the great world of the Internet through an illustrative example.
While surfing, @lpha finds a website which claims that: “according to a new research … the world is flat”. @lpha laughs and advises the audience not to trust any website and information published online, but to use critical thinking about what is true and what is not.

TV spot: “The Nightmare”
3D graphic spot focusing on the issue of privacy. @lpha has a nightmare in which a hand comes out of the computer screen asking for his credit card, phone number, keys and a photo.
He wakes up relieved to find out that it had been just a dream and advises the audience always to protect personal data and not to give out telephone numbers, credit cards details, photographs, home addresses to strangers online, in order to always surf safely in the Internet world. Also, not to open strange emails.

TV spot: “Safe surfing”
The Olympic gold medallists 2004 in sailing, Sofia Bekatorou and Aimilia Tsoulfa parallelize safe surfing on the Internet with safe sailing, informing the audience that this can be achieved with the proper education, knowledge, critical thinking, and by following the safety rules.

TV spot: “Chatting on the Internet”
Spot, where a 12-year old girl is chatting on the Internet with a ‘friend’, who is an old man. When she is asked to give out her home address, she presses the button ‘Esc’, turns to the camera and declares that she always surfs safely and never gives out personal information.

TV card: “PEGI Rating System”
Card-spot explaining the PEGI content descriptors which are on the video games’ boxes.

TV card: “Safeline”
Card-spot introducing the Greek hotline “Safeline” and how to file  a report about  illegal and harmful online content.
