Mo1 is a mobile phone specially adapted for children over 6 years of age. Its selected functions and features allow parents to get in contact with their children in a completely safe way whenever needed.

For the design, Imaginarium has counted on the engineering know-how of Vitelcom. The design (ergonomic, modern and very functional, it only has 4 keys and two of them are for quick dialling) and interface of the handset are based on Imaginarium’s experience in terms of the language skills, intuition and abilities of children of that age range.

The functions of Mo1 are based on the criteria of necessity and educative value in order for children to learn a correct and safe use of mobile phones. In practice, this means that incoming and outgoing phone calls are limited to the numbers previously introduced by parents through a webpage, the access to which is protected. This restriction also applies to SMS, so no undesired contact is possible. Besides, a hands-free set that turns on automatically, a localisation service and a one-key emergency call available all around the clock have been included.

In fact, children are given their first handset earlier* than before, and the devices given to them or “inherited” by them from adults* contain several unsuitable features for children. In addition, most of the time, children are not taught how to use them safely.

All these circumstances lead to an incorrect mobile phone use by children that may scare parents off. On the other hand, it is very reassuring for the latter to know that with the child-safe Mo1 their children can call them whenever needed and the other way round.

Mo1 will be available at all Imaginarium shops and Movistar’s selected trading points. The price for the final consumer has been set at 59 euros. In March 2007, Imaginarium will start promoting Mo1 in another 20 countries.
