Portugal calls for a better and safer internet7 November 2005
The Portuguese national node SeguraNet is holding a second meeting for stakeholders on 11 November 2005.
The meeting, in a seminar format, will focus on stakeholders’ contributions on the theme:
"More Internet, Better Internet, Safer Internet - without harmful and illegal content." |
There will be a brief description of the development of SeguraNet and the presentation of some products. These include a new website, videos and graphic materials, such as posters, leaflets, postcards, and a manual for teachers.
A special presentation on Children and the Internet, a sociological approach, will be made by a professor of the University of Minho, followed by shorter presentations:
• ENISA’s perspective on safety, by the Portuguese representative (FCCN) • Computer Games classification by the Board of Film Classification • Project MiudosSegurosNa.Net, by a parent that created a site for parents concerned with internet safety • “Criminal law and illegal content on the internet,” by the District Attorney • “In defence of copyright: fighting the underground economy,” by the Inspector for Cultural Activities • Microsoft’s Safety Programme
These interventions will be the source for debate among the participants invited that include a wide range of public institutions and private companies. The participants include representatives from ministries, teacher associations, ISPs, the police and the Board of Film Classification, among many others.
