NetAlert supports the Virtual Global Taskforce

NetAlert, Australia's Internet safety advisory body supports the work of the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT) and was committed to the recent "Protecting Children Online" conference in Northern Ireland.

The VGT began in December 2003 as an alliance between The National Crime Squad for England and Wales; The Australian High Tech Crime Centre; The Royal Canadian Mounted Police; The US Department of Homeland Security and Interpol.

The group delivers projects to make the Internet a safer place for children.

NetAlert is also committed to making the Internet a safer place for children through such programs as the National Child Protection Initiative in Australia which has been established to protect children from online exploitation.  Being an independent body and partner to the Virtual Global Taskforce, NetAlert works with law enforcement programs both in Australia and internationally to help keep children safe.

At the recent Protecting Children Online VGT conference, Kevin Zuccato, Director of the Australian High Tech Crime Centre and NetAlert Director, spoke about the work of the Virtual Global Taskforce from a global perspective.  Karyn Hart (NetAlert Chair) and Lara MacDonell (NetAlert General/Operations Manager) were also in attendance at the conference to share the Australian experience.

NetAlert supports such international events and sees them as important measures in helping to keep children safe online.
