Letter from ASIRA to Insafe

ASIRA, the Information Security Association of the Republic of Argentina is a non profit organisation that recently joined the Insafe network as an associated node.

We are very thankful and honored with the opportunity to be part of the Insafe network. 8,000 miles separate as but thanks to technology we are just a click apart.

At the non profit-making organisation ASIRA, independent and specialist investigators from all over the country reflect, develop and create I&D programs and join the fight against paedophilia and infantile pornography on the internet.

Joint efforts are necessary in order to combat child abuse, improve legislation, expand knowledge and resources, and improve communication among policy-makers and law enforcement authorities. In this context A.S.I.R.A collaborates with the Development and Research laboratory.

An example of joint initiatives is an Investigation System Development project called "Techniques and methodologies of Computer science Intelligence for paedophilia prevention and investigation". Another initiative involves the development of new software tracking the transferal and storage of files with child pornographic and/or pseudo pornographic content in all type of networks. The possibilities offered accomplish the objective of contributing to investigations of the security forces.

We strongly believe that collaborating makes us stronger and that the rights of children are not negotiable. With a view to achieving our mission next to Insafe Members, ASIRA will employ the following means:

-Promoting general awareness of risks related to information systems

-Offering tailor-made support and advice on information security to both the private and public sector

-Advising the government on legislative and legal aspects of information system security, as well as on the prevention and investigation of technological crimes

-Performing proactive analysis of existing security risks pertaining to information and communication systems

-Generating methodology standards and certification processes related to information system security

-Contributing to the development of net ethics

We wish to thank Europe once again for the opportunity of sharing knowledge; Latin America embraces the Old Continent.

Bernardo Lajmanovich, Institutional Director ASIRA
