It stems from their mutual interest and concern for young web users. Considering the widespread use of the internet and mobile phones, the Minister of Communications, within the sphere of his own policies aimed at safeguarding minors, is demonstrating his intention of becoming more familiar with the everyday life of children by using a practical and useful tool like this site.
These pages are aimed at all children, the adults who are involved in their care and education (parents and teachers), and all those people who wish to explore the potential of new technology in a safe and secure manner, avoiding any possible dangers. The site offers thoughtful ideas and information that are necessary for safe navigation. These ideas are not only based on technical instruments for the protection of computers, but also and above all on the awareness of those people who use new technology by making them reflect on how and why they use it and its possible pitfalls. Given the efforts made and years of experience in the field with children in the area of minors and new technology, Save the Children Italy (the partner of Adiconsum in the EASY campaign, the Italian awareness node) was a natural candidate to oversee the entire content of the site.
The site contains ad hoc sections dedicated to children (10-15 years of age), as well as to parents and teachers. Among the various available aids, there is a video section that gathers together many of the campaigns created by the Insafe network’s nodes, that kindly allowed us to publish them (this good example of network collaboration is available at http://www.tiseiconnesso.it/pag_video.php). In the hope that they are inspired by social themes, we are inviting children to send us their videos, which will then be loaded onto the same section (several videos made by children are already up) for the purpose of creating a virtuous circle.
