Saferinternet.at and eBay launch online safety quiz

Safe online shopping requires basic knowledge on how to handle potential risks. This is especially true for the growing group of young consumers. Against this background the Austrian awareness node Saferinternet.at launched a safety quiz in conjunction with eBay.at.

Internet users can now test their safety knowledge online. They are asked 15 questions about safe handling of passwords, rights and duties in online shopping and trading, phishing, secure payment etc. At the end users receive personalised feedback and practical tips on how to improve their safety behaviour. iPod nanos can be won by participants until 31 July.

In addition Saferinternet.at publishes safety tips in eBay.at mailings on a regular basis, reaching more than 1 million users in Austria.

The quiz allows in-depth analysis of safety and security knowledge of various user groups in Austria based on their age, gender or geographical location.

The findings will be practically implemented in future Saferinternet.at awareness raising events, such as school programmes and workshops.

Working together for a safer internet: The collaboration with eBay.at is one example of Saferinternet.at’s successful cooperation strategy with industry to increase the reach of awareness raising. Saferinternet.at also works together with Microsoft Austria, the largest national internet provider Telekom Austria and the largest mobile phone provider mobilkom austria.
