"klicksafe" presents safer internet award
This year in Germany for the first time the "klicksafe Award for Safety on the Internet" was presented to two outstanding online services. The award ceremony took place at the AOL Safer Media Awards at medienforum.nrw (media trade fair) in Cologne. |
Every internet user is exposed to the dangers of the World Wide Web. As a result, online projects that offer increased safety on the internet are gaining ever greater importance. "klicksafe" instituted the "klicksafe award for safety on the internet" to honour projects and initiatives offering outstanding solutions for better internet safety and promoting media competence among children, young people, parents and teachers.
A jury of leading experts from "klicksafe" partners and members of the AOL Security Council deliberated and decided which online service should be presented with the klicksafe Award.
The "1st klicksafe Award for Safety on the Internet" was awarded to two nominees who were unique in their fields: "Seitenstark" (www.seitenstark.de) a community of networked children's websites. The central aim of "Seitenstark" is to allow children to surf in safety by offering them links to a network of high-quality and varied websites and a safe, moderated chatroom.
"Bürger-CERT: Into the internet – safely" (www.buerger-cert.de) Professionals provide support to non-professional internet users and a team of experts offers information on the latest and best protection measures for your PC.
"klicksafe" also provided recognition for projects created by other groups not having the backing of large organisations and with limited means and possibilities. The recognition award this year was presented to the students of the Compulsory Subject Choice 10 Information Technology/Social Studies at the Elsa-Brandström Grammar School in Oberhausen for their contribution "It could be safe, couldn't it?“.
