Warsaw kicks off series of conferences25 July 2005
On 3 June 2005 Warsaw hosted a safer Internet conference.
It was organised by the Nobody’s Children Foundation and NASK and held under the honorary patronage of the president of the Capital City Warsaw. |
The “Safer Internet” conference in Warsaw was the first of a series of similar events to be held across 16 cities in Poland. More than 350 people attended, including educators, psychologists, police and representatives from ministries, NGOs and ISPs in Warsaw.
In the days preceding the conference, the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), partner in the Insafe coordination team, held a training seminar for all Awareness Nodes from different European countries participating in Safer Internet Programme. Participants of the training also took part in the conference and several gave presentations.
The conference programme included two thematic sessions on Internet safety, focusing on both national and European perspective. Additionally in the afternoon two parallel workshop seminars were organised: for teachers and educators, and for the police. The first focused on an educational campaign for Internet safety, the second covered issues related to combating illegal Internet content. On the following day an accompanying event for children was held in Agrykola Park in Warsaw – an outdoor family picnic with games, quizzes, competitions, promoting safe use of the Internet among the youngest users.
