Internet safety hits the road20 July 2005
An Italian initiative is taking Internet safety on tour around Italy this summer.
The 'EASY tour' bus brings teaching materials, games and other fun activities to around a dozen cities. |
The bus makes learning about Internet safety a fun experience for young people. Eight on-board computers allow for a multimedia experience including quizzes and games to test and improve their knowledge of Internet safety issues.
The tour has something for the grown-ups too. Parents can ask questions, and there is also a special pack of materials for teachers. All activities and materials are provided free of charge.
The bus tour kicked off on 6 July 2005 in Treviso, northern Italy and will continue through September. In October, a new tour will take the bus to Italian schools.
EASY stands for Enhancing Awareness on Safety for Young people. The project has been running since October 2004, when consumer protection group Adiconsum and child protection organisation Save the Children joined forces. They form the Italian 'node' of the Insafe network, which is supported by the EU's Safer Internet Programme.
