News from the Czech Safer Internet Awarenod/Helpline

INTERNET HELPLINE - Safety Line Association implements a crisis intervention line to protect children against internet deliquency within the partnership project CZESICON (CZEch Safer Internet COmbined Node) – Safer Internet Plus.
Since the beginning of 2007, the Czech Safer Internet Awarenod/ Helpline has provided children and young people with first aid and prevention in the form of psycho-social assistance in order to help them comfortably work, learn, chat and browse on the internet.

The project started officialy on 1st January 2007 as an extension of the existing phone crisis intervention service provided by Linka bezpeci (Czech Safety Line Association). The Internet Helpline is an advice call & chat centre on safer internet use. Together with the prevention facility on the newly built children‘s web portal www.internethelpline.cz, the Internet Helpline utilizes the expertise and experience from more than twelve-years of constant operation of Linka bezpeci.

The main project goal is to establish a long-term operating helpline where children can raise concerns about illegal and harmful content on the internet. Another necessary aspect of the project is attaining high public visibility of the helpline service and consequently of internet safety.

The Helpline, being part of the combined CZESICON project, will share information and experiences with other national Safer Internet projects throughout Europe. The project, supported by EU funds, will also actively co-operate with the INSAFE awareness network at the European level.
