Safer Internet Day 2008 logo competition for children

As part of the celebratation of Safer Internet Day 2008 a logo competition for children who are in year 4 and 5 of all primary schools in Malta and Gozo was held on the 26th of February at Playmobil Funpark when the winner was announced.

The competition kicked off last November throughout Malta with a poster that was distributed in all primary schools eligible to take part.  Participants had to design a logo or slogan related to safer internet either by hand or by using a computer application. The aim of the competition was to build up some interest towards Safer Internet Day with younger children, who could therefore gain more knowledge about how they should use the internet safely while working on their entries.

All children who participated in the logo competition were invited to the event in recognition for the interest they showed. Playmobil Malta and Fabercastell represented by AF Enterprises kindly provided a variety of attractive prizes, including those for the first-placed winners.

We can report a good turnout of participants from around Malta and Gozo.  The deadline was specially extended until 18 January so that schools had ample time to promote the event with their students.  There was strong collaboration with the Education Department especially with the Commissioner for children and we were pleased to meet and acknowledge the participation of so many students during Safer Internet Day 2008.
