Safer Internet Day a success in Greece8 February 2006
The Safer Internet Day 2006 celebration in Greece featured a conference in Thessaloniki.
There was high attendance from a wide range of sectors; media, government, education, IT companies, and others. |
The Greek Node organised a celebration at the Trade and Industrial Chamber of Thessaloniki. It included speeches from representatives of the government, media, education, IT companies, telecommunication companies, Research Institutes and others.

55 journalists from TV, Radio and newspapers attended the celebration, 12 representatives from: • Various Municipalities of the Prefect of Thessaloniki • Prefecture of Thessaloniki • Ministries of: o Culture o Development o Macedonia-Thrace o Education
All attendees received a bag designed with the mascot and the website with a folder which included all the educational material of the project, the speeches and favourable gifts.
A national crossword competition was run in parallel to Safer Internet Day. With the support of the Ministry of Education, all Primary and Secondary schools in Greece were invited to do a safer internet crossword available on the Saferinternet.gr site.
The competition will last from 6-10 February 2006. The first two days have already attracted over 300,000 hits and 80,000 visits to the website.
