Singapore

It is not easy bringing up kids in the Internet age. Rather than sitting back and fearing the Net, PAGi (Parents Advisory Group for the Internet), Singapore, empowers parents to face the challenge of raising children in an online world.
Chaired by Mrs Carmee Lim, PAGi helps concerned parents by:
  • helping them to teach children to be street-wise in cyberspace
  • introducing them to tools such as the Family Access Networks (FAN) and other filtering mechanisms to keep children from undesirable online sites
  • working closely with international agencies to ensure Internet safety for the young

However, in order to help their children, parents themselves need to understand the Internet as well. PAGi will help in this too.

Partnering Government, Industry and International Agencies PAGi partners the Internet industry and government agencies to:

  • promote safe surfing, and educate parents about online safety
  • advise and give feedback to the industry, on tools for online safety
  • recommend safe and fun sites for children
  • help familiarise parents with the Internet so that they can supervise their children better
  • keep up with developments in child online protection
  • educate children on safety in the Internet

Pagi's international partners include well-known agencies such as Childnet International, Internet Content Rating Association, CyberAngels, NetAlert and Internet Watch Foundation.
