SID 2007 Competition Winners
E-PRIVACY: "Modern Communication tools, for and against our privacy"
“The High School of Trade & Economy of Bialystok, Poland and the Vocational Secondary School of Railway Transport Nikola Vaptsarov of Gorna Oryahovitsa, Bulgaria worked together on a project called: “Modern communication tools - for and against our privacy”. The students from the two schools put the internet on trial and organised a court debate with prosecutors and defenders. The school communities were strongly involved around an original approach and created a very complete power point presentation reporting on their conclusions.
NETIQUETTE: "E-values"
43 students from a 6th grade class at Athens College, Greece and the ZS TGM of Mnihoviche, Czech Republic collaborated around the concept of "e-values". Their outstanding project addressed several different areas of internet safety by transposing proverbs into the digital context. The young pupils created a fun movie where animals fall into traps on the net and get clever advice from a wise owl.
POWER OF IMAGE: "The picture as the vehicle of bad and good news"
The 6th Gymnasium of Z.ory, Poland and the Primary school of Panagia Thassos, Greece worked together on a project entitled "The picture as the vehicle of bad and good news". The pupils and teachers worked on a visually arresting and comprehensive power point presentation addressing internet safety issues such as privacy, online predators, and undesirable behaviour. Through the power of image visitors are guided through a maze of possibilities and become aware of possible pitfalls.
INNOVATION: "Power of image"
The Semley Primary School, United Kingdom and the Athens-Chilesburg Elementary School, United States worked together on the "The Power of Image" . The two classes created a project with high standard of work, near-professional quality of design and execution and real feel for the media. The young pupils proved to be very much at ease with the entire process and created a variety of awareness material including tips, posters, drawings and a short skit presented in a pdf document.
