SAFE-SI
Project start - end date (duration)
01/03/2007 - 31/08/2008

The Slovenian Awareness Node has made a significant start in contributing to the objectives of Safer Internet Programme and the relevant action line. SAFE-SI 2 will contribute to raising the awareness as regards Internet safety of the Slovenian society as a whole.
SAFE-SI 2 project activities will guide to wider public recognition of harmful content in the context of media and information literacy in Slovenia. It is our vision to empower selected target groups (young people, parents and teachers) to use the Internet, as well as other information and communication technologies, safely and effectively.

SAFE-SI 2 will continue implementing an information campaign, focusing on even more directly involvement of parents and youngsters in project activities. The trainings of teachers will be further encouraged. Namely, it is very important to include in particular aspects of safer use of ICT technologies in the classrooms into the regular curriculum of these trainings organised by Slovenian educational institutions.

Furthermore, SAFE-SI 2 will provide information materials about safer use of the Internet, organise events in close cooperation with non-partners and work closely with Slovenian hotline.

SAFE-SI 2 will also contribute actively to the European network national Nodes by exchanging resources and contributing its own experience and expertise as regards topics of the Internet safety. It will increase the visibility of INSAFE network to key Slovenian players and Internet users. Furthermore, SAFE-SI 2 will also help raising visibility of the Slovenian hotline SPLETNO OKO.

CONSORTIUM:

The consortium is established by University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences and ARNES (Academic and Research Network of Slovenia). The initiatives of a consortium led by the Faculty of Social Sciences are welcomed and certainly widely appreciated. The project will be co-financed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. It also has documented support from all Slovenian key Internet service and content providers, child/welfare groups, government and school institutions as well as the media to act as the Slovenian National Awareness Node.
