United States of America

i-SAFE is a nonprofit foundation whose mission is to educate and empower students, parents, seniors, and community members around the world to safely and responsibly take control of their Internet experiences.

i-SAFE provides knowledge that enables students, parents, seniors, and community members to recognize and avoid dangerous, destructive, or unlawful online behavior, and to respond appropriately. This is accomplished through education, youth empowerment, and community-outreach programs to students, parents, law enforcement, and community leaders. i-SAFE is the only Internet safety foundation to combine these elements.

  • Education

Implementing i-SAFE's International Education Program in EU member countries allows students to get world class, interactive, up-to-date Internet safety curriculum lessons in the classroom. These lessons employ peer-to-peer communication and cooperative learning activities to help students retain this valuable information. The standards-based curriculum incorporates critical thinking activities to provide a focused in-depth analysis of core topics. These include: Child Safety, Cyber Security, Online Behavior, and Protecting Personal Information. i-SAFE trains educators in member countries online through i-LEARN International video modules, and provides all the materials necessary to teach the curriculum.

  • Youth Empowerment

i-SAFE curriculum is age appropriate in addressing Internet safety topics by providing separate lesson plans for each age level. i-SAFE facilitates localization, customization, and/or translation of the i-SAFE International Curriculum. Each lesson is designed to foster active participation between students and their instructor through classroom discussion, as well as group and individual activities. The activities associated with each lesson are designed to extend beyond the classroom, empowering students to take action. The activities are the lesson and a mandatory component of the i-SAFE program.

  • Community Outreach

i-SAFE’s outreach campaigns bring a comprehensive understanding of Internet safety from school to neighborhoods and communities. Students are encouraged to become i-MENTORS. i-MENTORS are role models who plan engaging Internet safety events and activities for their schools and communities. Mentoring helps students develop leadership skills, and their involvement makes a difference in the lives of other students.

i-SAFE International Education Program community outreach activities also encourage involvement from parents, adults over the age of 50, law enforcement professionals, community leaders and other concerned citizens, to help spread awareness about Internet safety issues in order to implement the i-SAFE International Education Program.
