Regional meeting in Madrid Insafe has worked to support Awareness Centres in regional clusters over the past year. The regional clusters are Southern, Western, Northern and Central Europe. Meetings have taken place in Helsinki and Madrid which allowed a particular focus on the issues pertinent to the countries from those areas. These events invite a wide range of stakeholders from industry, Hotlines, Helplines and other interested parties such as law enforcement, charities and NGOs. It is important to recognise the value of the links that are made and the networks of cooperation that develop as a result of these meetings.
The regional meeting in Madrid took place in July and focused specifically on illegal and harmful content and conduct, issues which were very poignant for all who attended. Once again, by collaborating as a network, it was possible to engage with experts who could be beyond the reach of individual Awareness Centres.
Future meetings are planned in Slovenia (organised by Inhope) and Dublin (organised by Insafe) in 2010.
