About our SID activities

On Tuesday, 6 February 2024, Safer Internet Day will be organised for the sixteenth consecutive year by Save the Children Organisation. During the event, we will introduce the latest findings of a sociological study to understand how parents perceive their children's online activities and their knowledge about children's internet usage. We will explore parent's skills in assisting and guiding their children in resolving online issues. Representatives of the authorities are expected to participate in the discussion, contributing to a comprehensive dialogue on enhancing internet safety for children.
Additionally, a guide for parents will be launched at the event. This guide is designed to help parents better manage their children's online activities, understand the risks children face online, and recognise the opportunities available to them.

At a national level, we invite teachers to join this initiative and organise classroom activities on themes related to internet safety. These activities could include open discussions, research projects, and much more. We encourage teachers to report the outcomes of their activities, sharing their experiences and results with us and the wider educational community. This will foster a collaborative learning environment and provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of different approaches in promoting internet safety and digital literacy among students.

What we are doing to create a better internet...

This year's edition of Safer Internet Day will bring together representatives from all major institutions with a role in child protection in Romania. We aim to join forces and find new and creative ways to help parents better understand their children's online activity and support them with practical advice.

About us

The Ora de Net project promotes internet safety among Romanian children, parents, teachers, and specialists by creating public awareness campaigns, offering informative training sessions, improving school educational methods, and proposing public policies and better legislation in this field. The project also aims to combat illegal or harmful content and internet-related offences (child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming), to encourage the responsible use of the internet and new communication technologies by children, parents and teachers, and to influence decision-making by bringing together key stakeholders in formulating and implementing realistic policies.
