About our SID activities

For Safer Internet Day (SID) 2024, Webwise and our Safer Internet Centre (SIC) partners will be exploring young people’s views on new and emerging technology and the changes young people want to see online. 2023 has seen some significant changes in terms of technology and regulation both in Ireland and in Europe. SID2024 will give young people the opportunity to reflect on the role of digital technology in their lives and their understanding of how they work, their implications and opportunities.  The dedicated Safer Internet Day Hub at www.webwise.ie/saferinternetday/ provides information, resources, and ideas about how to get involved in SID.

Event - a youth-led event will take place on Safer Internet Day 2024, which will provide a platform to hear young people’s views on new and emerging digital technology, the impact it has on their lives, and changes they would like to see online. The event will feature a roundtable discussion on this theme and an 'Ask Me Anything' section where young people will be able to put their questions to stakeholders, including Ireland's Online Safety Commissioner, industry representatives, and academics. There will also be a presentation of Safer Internet Day 2024 activities across Ireland.
